Today I’m sharing how to make a super cute, super organized Art Supply cart for your little ones! Not only will YOU get to look at something pretty, but your kids will have an easier time finding the supplies they need to make their art projects.

Everything I used is linked below plus a quick explanation of what you need to do to create your own easy, efficient, and adorable Art Supply cart!

How to Make an Awesome Art Cart!

Part 1 (6).png

Here is an easy step-by-step guide so that you can have an accessible and functional art supply cart for your home – you can move this cart wherever you want your kiddos to create their masterpieces!

Choose a Cart

Art Supply Cart

I think wheels are a must, so that your cart can be easily moved wherever you need it to go.  There are so many different options out there – the beauty I chose that I love is the Recollections one from Michael’s in Matte black – a super similar one with lots of color options too is right here.

Put your cart together and you are ready to start gathering your art supplies!

Gather or Purchase your Art Supplies

Twistable Colored Pencils | Safety Scissors | Twistable Crayons | Drawing Pads | Washable Crayons | Construction Paper | Washi Tape | Coloring Books | Do A Dot Markers | Washable Markers |

This depends a bit on the age and interests of your children – my boys are almost 3 and 4.5 years old, and here is a list of what we currently have in our Art Cart:

Once you have all of your art supplies, it is time to start organizing!

Put Art Supplies in Cute Containers

Clear Paint Tins

I love these adorable clear “paint tins” – they are sturdy, but inexpensive enough that you can replace them if needed, and have cute little handles as well!  So perfect for little hands 🙂

I went with mostly one size, but there are a variety of sizes available.  Lay out your art supplies to see which size works best for you and get to shopping!

Label your Containers

Chalkboard Labels | Wood Tape

Any sort of label will do!  I especially love Chalkboard labels or this fun wood tape I used for mine.  Get creative and put your own spin on it 🙂

Reveal to your Kids and Enjoy the Excitement!

My boys were SO excited when they saw their art cart – they haven’t stopped playing with it for days, and I love seeing the crafts they come up with!

We went over some simple rules and practiced, such as to be nice to the art cart, to put caps back on markers, and to put supplies back when done using them, and the best part is the creative quality time our little art cart brings to our family!

I hope this post helped you if you want to make your own art cart – if you do, I’d love to see what you create!  You can tag me on social media using @lipsbynic 🙂  Thanks so much for reading!
